The retrial requests for Mahboubeh Rezaei, Mehdi Meskin-Navaz, and Reza Mohammad-Hosseini

The retrial requests for Mahboubeh Rezaei, Mehdi Meskin-Navaz, and Reza Mohammad-Hosseini, Pro-Monarchist political prisoners, have been accepted by the Supreme Court of Iran. Their cases have been referred to equivalent appellate courts for reconsideration.

Mahboubeh Rezaei was arrested on May 22 of last year by government forces. She was subsequently sentenced by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals to a total of 19 years and 9 months imprisonment and an 8-million-toman fine on charges of: Membership in groups opposing the regime to disrupt national security, Collusion, and assembly to commit crimes against national security, Propaganda against the regime, Insulting Islamic sanctities, and Removing her hijab and displaying moral corruption on social media.


Mehdi Meskin-Navaz was convicted last year on charges stemming from a case filed during his prior imprisonment. He was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 11 years imprisonment, banishment from Tehran Province and its neighboring provinces, and a two-year ban on leaving the country for: Establishing a group with the intent to disrupt national security, and Propaganda against the regime.


Reza Mohammad-Hosseini was arrested at his residence last year by security forces of the Islamic Republic. In December of the same year, Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals sentenced him to 14 years and 6 months imprisonment and a fine for:


Membership in groups opposing the regime to disrupt national security, Collusion, and assembly to commit crimes against national security, Propaganda against the regime, and Resisting law enforcement officers during their official duties.
