School pressure to wear jeans led to a student's suicide

Arzoo Khavari, a 16-year-old student, tragically took her own life after facing harsh and insulting treatment from school officials for wearing jeans and not wearing a hijab during a school trip in Shahr-e-Ray. Her father revealed this wasn’t the first time the school had pressured his daughter over various issues. The family has filed a complaint, but the school has not responded, and the Ministry of Education remains silent.

(Some sources indicate she was of Afghan descent.)

This incident has sparked renewed criticism of the restrictive and controlling policies in the country’s education system, highlighting the psychological pressure placed on students.
