Massive demonstrations by farmers in the eastern and western regions of Isfahan

Farmers from both the eastern and western regions of Isfahan staged a large-scale demonstration, driving their tractors from Varzaneh to Roodasht in protest against the continued water shortage and mismanagement of the Zayandeh Rud River.

The demonstrators, many of whom rely on the river for their livelihoods, called for the restoration of their water rights and the immediate release of water into the riverbed, which has suffered from prolonged drought and government mismanagement.

Chanting “Either our water rights or continued protests,” the farmers declared that they will not back down until their demands are fully met. The protest reflects growing frustration over water policies, dam construction, and diversion projects that have left many farmers struggling to sustain their agricultural activities.
