Mashallah Karami, the father of the late Mohammad Mehdi Karami, an executed protester, has been sentenced to six years in prison and the confiscation of his assets.
Mashallah Karami was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court in Karaj.
According to a verdict recently issued by Branch 2 and served to Mr. Karami in prison on May 20th, he received five years in prison for "assembly and collusion with the intent to commit a crime against national security" and one year for "propagating against the regime."
Additionally, the Islamic Republic government has confiscated all of Karami's assets, including his family's house and car.
The legal website Dadban reported that this seizure is illegal and constitutes a crime, as property confiscation based on fraud allegations should only apply to assets claimed to have been obtained through fraud, not all assets and properties.
