Maryam Abbasi Nikoo, the mother of Bita Shafii Rad, a student protester against the suspected and systematic poisoning of students in Iranian schools on the 5th of Tir month (June 26, 2023), has been detained by the security forces of the Islamic Republic and transferred to an undisclosed location.
On Tuesday evening, the security forces of the Republic stormed her father's house in an attempt to re-arrest Bita Shafii Rad. Upon discovering her absence, they subjected her father to physical assault and detained her mother.
According to news reports, Bita Shafii Rad had previously been arrested and subjected to torture in Shahin Shahr for participating in a student demonstration against the suspicious and serial poisonings in Iranian schools.
