#AtenaFarghadani, a cartoonist and civil rights activist, has been released from Evin Prison following the completion of her eight-month sentence.
Previously, on December 9 of this year, human rights organizations reported that her initial six-year prison sentence had been reduced to eight months upon appeal.
Farghadani was arrested on April 13 of this year due to her protest artwork highlighting social and economic inequalities. She was subsequently tried on charges including “propaganda against the regime” and “insulting sacred values.”
